Day 01: Arrival at Kolkata
Arrive at Kolkata International Airport, meet our representative and proceed to your hotel.
After breakfast begin your day with a visit to the Victoria Memorial (closed on Mondays)—Kolkata’s iconic white-marble monument, inaugurated by the Prince of Wales in 1921. Built by Lord Curzon in memory of Queen Victoria, it stands as one of the most enduring symbols of the British Raj in India. Today, it serves as a museum displaying an outstanding collection of manuscripts, paintings, sculptures, and historical artefacts from the colonial period.
Enjoy a river cruise from Millenium Park under the iconic Howrah Bridge to Belur Math, the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, established by Swami Vivekananda, set amidst a vast 40-acre landscape. It is beautifully situated along the Hooghly River (western bank). Visit its sacred landmarks including the Sri Ramakrishna Temple, Swami Vivekananda’s Room, Holy Mother Sarada Devi’s Temple, and the Ramakrishna Museum. People from across the globe visit to experience its peaceful atmosphere and offer their homage.
Next is the magnificent Kali Temple at Dakshineshwar. It was built in 1855 by Rani Rashmoni on the eastern bank of Hooghly River. The Deity of the temple is Bhavatarini (Kali). This temple is famous for its association with the Avatar Sri Ramakrishna who was the Priest here & Maa Sarada Devi his spiritual consort. That is why it’s often said that a trip to Kolkata is incomplete without a visit to the Dakshineshwar Kali temple.
